Motorcycles and me.

(These bikes are not mine. I mean the bike on the right side is a scaled model of Ducati Scrambler, and the one on the left is a Royal Enfield Classic 500, which has been to Leh Ladakh)

OH PLEASE STOP IT!!!Grrrrrrrrrrr😔!!This is what I felt as a kid when a motorcycle passed in full speed. Yes I grew up hating Motorcycles. I mean back then all my friends were crazy behind the Suzuki Hayabusa, Kawasaki Ninja, and those 500cc+ super sport bikes, but I just did not get the point. I did respect the engineering, brand of the company that went behind creating these bikes, but you know, I did not enjoy those. In case if someone came and asked me which type of bikes did I like the most, (me sighing inside) I replied, Cruisers, and dirt bikes. Why? you would ask.. well the dirt bike asthetics looked (and still look) really really cool. And cruisers, oh I still love those, mainly because of the comfortable seating position, and the styling of the bikes.

So, after I completed my high school, I read and researched about bicycles ( my favorite mode of transport) and while doing that, I surprisingly became intrested in motorcyles as well! I mean, the only motorcycle types I knew, were Sports bikes (500cc +), Cruisers (200cc +) and 2 stroke engine Dirt bikes. But the more I read, more I became intrested in motorcycles. Cafe racers, roadsters, scramblers, adventure, retro modern, touring, naked, bobbers  (Google them!) these were the types I was not even aware of. The cool thing about them is, each and every bike, has its own asthetic beauty and emotion. I gradually understood the form and function, engineering of them.Even though cars were my first love, but my approach towards these machines changed gradually.

Soon as I went into the history of motorcycles, I was introduced to some the most legendary and iconic motorcycles, for example, Yamaha RX100, Jawa Yezdi, Hero Honda CB100,Royal enfield, (Google it if you dont know them) and so many more. The asthetics of these bikes is really good, but the major problem was that most of these had a 2 stroke engine, thus becoming petrol guzzlers.

Now after so many years and a lot of technological innovations, motorcycles are becoming more Faster, Cheaper, Safer, and most importantly Fuel efficient. Few of you might be wondering, so what is the future? are electric bikes coming? will they perform up to the combustion engine bikes?

Well, there are a few companies in India, working on electric motorcycles, like Ultraviolette Automotive, Hero electric and Revolt motors. But it will take time for them to be cheap, popular and most importantly, with long range and a robust charging network.

But till then we do have a exciting motorcycle history, culture and future.

And, I now do like motorcycles, which are handled by discipline, care and passion. Anyways, I am not intrested in purchasing a bike in the future, but would definitely love to design one:p. Have a great day.

(for the curious ones, I'm not a fan of KTM)
