(yes the above models are made by me)

Just do it (yourself)

Yes yes yes! Today we will discuss about one of my topic and hobby, DIY! (excited right?!) Yay!

For me personally, I used to do these household repairs (popularly known as jugaad in India) since I was a kid. And most importantly, without any internet reference. To be honest, all of those had a 95% failure rate. Most of my highly ambitious projects made their way to the dustbin. But obviously, it did not discourage me, as I still do DIY projects.

Alright, so basically let me clear all the chaos that is in your mind when you hear this subject. Lots of tools, fancy materials, super time consuming, high rate of failure, are the huge dense clouds spinning around your mind, when it comes to actually doing DIY. Lets make this whole thing crystal clear. DIY is basically the method of building, modifying, or repairing things, by yourself, without the help of any professionals.

Now, if you have done these things in the past, or still do it, you know how it feels when you succeed and also when you fail. But if have never done any such things before, but somewhere deep inside your heart, you still want to do it? well, the best tip that I can provide for you, is that, find a simple problem, that you face around you, and try to fix it, with the basic materials around you, instead of just creating something from scratch by coping it from YouTube (because if you fail, it will just discourage you). For example, make a zip chain puller, form an electrical wire, or similar material. Get the idea?

And if you just have the flame inside you, to create something straight from imagination, go for it,just remember, the most important point when it comes to DIY projects, is that PRE-PLANNING is everything. If you pre-plan everything ON PAPER (not in your mind) trust me you have won half of your battle. So you must be wondering, what exactly comes under PRE-PLANNING? These things---
1. What is it that you will make
2. a basic sketch about how it will work and look.
3. dimensions
4. any complex mechanisms or joints,
5. materials needed,
6. Deadline.
And don't worry about your outcome.. Just start out planning, if you loose interest while planning, just leave it aside and create something else.
WOOH! And remember, these things do not just come under "ART AND CRAFT".I personally am interested in mechanisms, physics, structures and all, so what, I use my DIY skills to bring my ideas into reality!

I hope this blog will at least inspire some of you, to make or fix something around you!

If it is broken, FIX IT. If you don't like it, CHANGE IT. If you want something, TAKE IT. Just don't complaint about it. Do something about it.                                          -Casey Neistat.
